Angel Island

We've just returned from a 3 day camping trip to Angel Island in the San Francisco Bay.

This place is full of old abandoned buildings which served as army barracks, immigration and quarantine stations at various points in history.

Took the ferry over from Pier 41, past Alcatraz.
This is where you live when you can't afford San Fran .....but you get the view!

Looks a lot like the buildings on Alcatraz itself! Were there many other people there?

Not many. We were pretty alone most of the time. There were groups of day trippers that came through and rode around on sightseeing buses, but they were a pretty small part of the experience. After the last ferry at about 3:30 everyday you knew there weren't really that many people left on the island.

I think you'd like it a lot. Not sure we'll be here to facilitate the visit,though...
